What are segments, and how do I use them?

Manage your segments easily through the 'Segments' page. Your existing list segments (under 'Contacts' → 'Lists' → 'Segments') are ready to be converted.
Segments are specific groups of contacts filtered by conditions such as actions, website visits, field values, or tags. For example, you can create segments based on demographics, specific tags, or who clicked or opened a campaign.
Segments are essential for email marketing because they help you:
Send personalized messages: Tailor your campaigns to your audience’s needs and interests.
Boost engagement: Increase open and click rates by making your emails relevant.
Improve deliverability: High engagement signals email providers to prioritize your messages.
Drive more revenue: Targeted messaging leads to better results and more sales.
Use the segment builder to create custom segments. This tool is available in several places across Marketune, including:
Segment Overview (Contacts → Segments)
Advanced Search
Campaigns
Scoring
Automation triggers and actions, such as:
If/else step
Wait step
Goal step
Save your segments from the "Segments" page, Advanced Search, or Campaign Overview to easily reuse them later.
Example: Creating a segment (Video)
Marketune uses AI to automatically suggest segments tailored to your account. These segments are based on user activity, behavior, and trends in your industry. AI-suggested segments are marked with a sparkling icon for easy identification.

The Segment Overview is your central hub for managing saved segments. To access it:
Go to ‘Contacts’ → ‘Segments’.
From here, you can:
Create, save, edit, or delete segments.
View AI-suggested segments.
Check the number of contacts in each segment.
Go to Contacts → Segments.
Click the segment name or the Edit button next to it.
Adjust the conditions in the segment builder:
Use dropdowns to modify existing conditions.
Add conditions by clicking ‘Add another condition’.
Create new segment groups with ‘Add new segment group’.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Go to ‘Contacts’ → ‘Segments’.
Click the arrow next to the ‘Edit’ button for the segment you want to delete.
Select ‘Delete’ and confirm by clicking ‘OK’.
You can reuse saved segments by adding their conditions to a new segment:
At the bottom of the segment builder, look for ‘Saved Segments’.
To maintain consistency and save time, you can use or add the conditions of a saved segment to your current segment.
Note: Adding saved conditions doesn’t overwrite existing ones; it combines them. For example, you can add conditions from the saved segment "Active Contacts" to the active segment "Tag is Newsletter" by clicking the "Use conditions" button.
Segments are a powerful tool for organizing contacts and sending highly relevant, personalized campaigns. By using segments, you can boost engagement, improve deliverability, and drive better results.
