How to import accounts using a CSV file in Marketune?

Please note: Accounts are available with a Scale and Pro subscription.

If you’ve moved from another platform to Marketune, you can quickly bring over your account data using the CSV import tool.


Important to know:

  • Access: Only administrators or users with the right permissions can use this feature.

  • File type: The tool works only with CSV files.

  • File size limit: The maximum upload size is 100 MB.

  • Custom fields: Make sure custom fields are set up in Marketune before you import.

Requirements for importing an account CSV file

What your file needs:

  • Account name: This field is required and must be included in the file.

  • Date format: All date fields should use the DD-MM-YYYY format.

  • Multiple values: If a field has multiple values, separate them with commas (e.g., Option 1, Option 2).

  • No line breaks: Remove any line breaks in field values, as they can cause the import to fail.

How to import accounts in Marketune

Easily bring your accounts into Marketune by following these steps:

  1. Go to "Contacts"
    Click on 'Contacts' in the left-hand menu.

  2. Navigate to "Accounts"
    Select 'Accounts' from the submenu.

  3. Access the import option: Click the underscore next to the 'Add an account' button, then choose 'Import Accounts' from the dropdown.

4. Upload your file
    • In the 'Import Accounts' pop-up, click 'Select File'.

    • Choose your CSV file to upload it.

     5. Map your data
    • Match the columns in your file to Marketune fields.

    • Marketune will try to auto-assign fields based on your file headers.

    • Use the dropdown menus to assign any unmapped fields.

    •  Note: You can assign only one column to each Marketune field.


     6. Use advanced options (if needed)
  • Default values: Apply default values for any required fields left blank in your file. Without defaults, blank fields will cause records to be skipped.
  • Overwrite data: Decide whether to overwrite existing data with blank fields from your CSV. By default, this is off.
      

        7. Start the import: 

  • Click the 'Import' button to begin. The file will process in the background, so you can close the page while the import runs.
How can I view the results of my account import?

After importing accounts, you can check the results on the Import Status page. This page gives you a detailed breakdown of all account and deal imports performed in your account. Please note that you need permission to import accounts or deals to access this page.

What you’ll see in each account and deal import:

  • File name: The name of the imported CSV file.

  • Import date: When the import was performed.

  • Imported by: The username of the person who carried out the import.

  • Import status: Whether the import was Completed or Failed.

  • Import type: Identifies if it was a Deal or Account import.

  • Number of rows with errors: Shows how many rows in your file had issues.

  • Error file download: Available if errors occurred, allowing you to fix and re-import those rows.


How to find the Import Status page:

  1. Go to "Settings"
    Click 'Settings' in the left-hand menu.

  2. Select 'Import Status'. Navigate to 'Import Status' to view your import history.

Troubleshooting account import issues

If errors occur during your import, Marketune provides tools to help you identify and fix them.


How errors are handled:

  • The number of rows with errors is displayed on the Import Status page.

  • A downloadable CSV error file is available, showing which rows failed and why.

Common error message:

  • "Account ID not found"
    This happens when the assigned Account ID doesn’t exactly match any existing records in Marketune.


How to fix it:

  1. Download the error file from the Import Status page.

  2. Review the rows with errors and correct the issues.

  3. Re-import the corrected file to complete the process.
