Before you can import your contacts into Marketune, you first need to export them from Keap as a CSV file. This file should include each contact's email address (required) as well as any other relevant information you wish to keep, such as first name, last name, company name, etc.
This exported file can also help you decide which automations, campaigns, or segments to place your contacts into once they’re in your Marketune account.
Both Keap and Marketune use the term “contact” to refer to a single entry containing an email address. Marketune requires every contact to have an email address. You cannot import contacts without an email address.
Export contact from Keap
1. Log in to Keap account and navigate to the CRM tab and select “Contacts”.
2. Choose contacts to export. You can either select a saved search or create a new search to find the contacts you wish to export.
3. After selecting your search, you’ll see a list of contacts ready for export.
4. Click the “Actions” dropdown menu and select export.
5. A list of fields with checkboxes will appear on the left column. Check the boxes for the fields you want to include, such as: Email Address (required for Marketune), First Name, Last Name, Company.
Tip: Marketune uses the email address as the unique identifier for each contact. You do not need to export the Keap ID unless you think you’ll need it for future reference.
6. Choose an export method. You can choose to receive your CSV file by viewing & downloading in your browser or receiving it by email.
7. Click “Process” and then “OK” to finalize the export.
1. Navigate to Contacts in Marketune and click “Contacts” on the left menu.
2. Click the “Import” button and choose “Import from File”.
3. A file browser will open. Find the CSV file you exported from Keap and select it. The file will start processing, and you’ll be redirected to the import screen.
4. Map your fields from Keap to the corresponding field in Marketune by using the dropdown menu.
5. If you don’t want to import data from a particular column, select “Do Not Import This Field”.
6. If a field doesn’t exist in your account yet, click “[Add New Field]” and follow the prompts to create it.
7. Select the lists you want to add your contacts to. You can add them to multiple lists at once (Optional).
8. Type any tags you want to apply to all imported contacts (Optional).
Tip: Tagging contacts by source (e.g., “Keap Migration”) makes it easier to manage and filter them later.
9. In the “Import Options” dropdown, select “Import As Active Contact”.
10. Check the “Update Existing Contacts” box to update existing records with new data from the imported file if a matching email address is found (Optional).
11. Click “Import Now” to begin the import process.
