How to merge duplicated contacts

If you have duplicate contacts in your Marketune account, you can easily merge them into a single contact using the Merge feature. This is particularly useful when a contact is registered with multiple email addresses, as Marketune does not allow duplicate registrations with the same email address.

Please note: You can only merge 2 contacts at a time and once contacts are merged, this action cannot be undone.

Here's how to do it—just follow these steps:

1. Go to 'Contacts' In your Marketune dashboard and click on the email address of the contact whose data you want to merge with another contact. Once the merge is complete, the selected email address will be permanently removed from your account.

2. In the contact profile, click on the dropdown menu in the top right corner. Select the 'Merge' option.

3. A window will appear with a list of suggested contacts to merge. If you see the contact you want to merge, click on 'Merge'. If the desired contact is not listed, use the search bar to find it by email address.

4. If the contacts have different values for the same fields, you’ll be prompted to select which values to keep. Click on 'View All Conflicting Fields' to review the differences. On the left side, you’ll see the 'Destination Contact' (the one you’re keeping) and on the right side, you’ll see the 'Source Contact', whose email address will be removed after merging. To keep specific field values, click on the name of the contact whose values you want to retain, then click 'Next'. This choice will be applied to all conflicting fields for the merge.

5. If both contacts are in the same automation, you need to decide which version to keep. You can either keep the automation from the Source Contact or the Destination Contact by clicking on 'View All Conflicting Automations' to review the details.

6. Carefully read the points on the confirmation screen. Check all the necessary boxes to confirm your choices and click on Merge to complete the action.

7. Once the merge is complete, a confirmation message will appear. Click on Finish to close the process.

After merging tags from the source contact will be added to the destination contact. Campaign activities from the source contact will also be added to the recent activities of the destination contact.

By following these steps, you can efficiently merge duplicate contacts while preserving important information and maintaining a clean, organized contact list.
