How can I send SMS messages via Marketune SMS?

Marketune SMS allows you to send personalized text messages to your contacts through direct or automated campaigns. Here’s everything you need to know to get started.

To send SMS messages, you’ll need to purchase SMS credits:

• Cost per SMS credit: $0.042 (excluding VAT).

• Validity: SMS credits are valid for one year after purchase.

You can buy credits in bulk directly from your personal Marketune dashboard. Here’s an overview of the bulk quantities and their corresponding prices:

1. Log in to your personal Marketune dashboard.

2. Find the SMS channel in your dashboard and follow the steps to purchase SMS credits.

3. Once credits are added, SMS functionality is automatically activated.

Important: Always ensure you have a clear opt-in from contacts before sending SMS messages.

Steps to add SMS in an automation:

1. Open an existing automation or create a new one.

2. Use the search bar on the right to find 'Marketune - Send an SMS' and drag it to your automation path.

3. If this is your first SMS action, enter your API Token (found in your confirmation email). Save the token securely.

4. Select your account or contact Support if no accounts appear.

5. Enter the sender name or number:

• Limitations: Max 14 digits or 11 alphanumeric characters. Allowed characters: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, commas, and dots. No spaces or special characters.

6. Enter 3311 in the Route field (default route).

7. Compose your SMS message:

• Use personalization tags by clicking the lightning bolt icon.

• Ensure the message stays within the character limits to avoid multiple charges.

8. Click Finish and activate your automation.

When contacts reach the SMS step in the automation, they will receive your message as long as their phone number is in the correct format.

If you run out of credits, you can easily top up:

1. Go to your Marketune dashboard and purchase additional credits.

2. After payment, you’ll receive an invoice and a confirmation email.

3. Once processed, you can resume sending SMS messages.

To ensure delivery, phone numbers must include following standard: [country code][phone number]. For example: +45612345677 or +32481234567. Without adding a country code, the message will not be delivered. An SMS can be sent to phone numbers with only the following formats:

The number of credits used depends on the length and type of SMS:

Plain text messages

• Up to 160 characters = 1 SMS.

• Messages exceeding 160 characters will use multiple SMS credits.

Unicode messages (e.g., emojis, special characters)

• Up to 70 characters = 1 SMS.
